I lived in Brazil for two years when I was 19 years old. So, I like to listen to Brazilian radio now and again. Many radio stations stream their broadcasts live over the Internet these days. I found some radio stations that I liked and have been listening to them in my web browser. The drawback that I have found is that sometimes I'll forget that the music is coming from my browser I'll CMD-Q my browser. Whoops! Music stops, of course. Well today I decided to try something different. I opened the site I normally go to for my Brazilian music fix and once I got to the window that played the music, I control-clicked (or right-click) on the browser page and chose Open in Dashboard. Then I used the highlight controls that were presented to highlight the web radio player and clicked Add. Dashboard opened and I had my radio in Dashboard. Now the trick to this is that you have to uncheck the box on the back of the widget that says 'Only play audio in dashboard' because if you do not, then when you return to your desktop from dashboard, the music stops.
Now whenever I want to listen to my Brazilian music, all I do is activate Dashboard and click the Play button on the widget I created. Additionally, if I CMD-Q my browser - no problem, my music continues to play because it's playing from the widget not the browser. Awesome.
