Do you do the same tasks every day? I finally automated one simply task that isn't hard to do, but with all the applications on my Dock can sometimes take me more than a few seconds to find all the apps I need. Each day when I begin my work for the day, I need to launch various applications. Well, rather than hunt them down on the dock each morning, I now just click on my Automator application that I aptly named: Launch Work Apps. What does it do? Well, just what the title says. It launches my work applications for the day.
First I load my VPN client, but in my Automator list I added a 30 second pause to allow time for me to enter my password. Then the Automator task continues to launch my other apps in succession: Microsoft Entourage, My Day, Billings, iChat, Parallels Desktop, and IBM Sametime. Now, I'm ready to work.
Check out Automator . . . it's on your hard drive in your Applications folder! :-)
