Safari 5 Reader. Deliverance From Overly Busy Pages

It's the little details that Apple constantly pays attention to that win my loyalty as a customer. Safari 5 does it again. I cannot tell you how many times I have been annoyed by little pop-up advertisements embedded in an article that I accidentally trigger just by dragging my mouse of them. You know the ones I'm talking about. Those sneakily disguised with green underlining that turns to double-underlining when your mouse passes over it and "boing!" up pops a little dialog-box add. This takes advertising to a whole new level of annoying. I just wanted to read your article and I don't mind having to see the ads that surround the articles, but do you have to put things inside the article that don't belong? I don't like feeling tricked either.

Well, along comes Reader in Safari 5. For sites where it detects an article as the primary content, it will allow you to pull that article to the front, sans the distractions that are embedded in it and around it.

Here is an example:

You will notice in the above screen shot that there is a pop-up window that says "web" and it's right over the text of the article. How did it get there? I accidentally passed my mouse cursor over a word in the article that triggered the ad. I was willing to put up with the ads around the articles, after all, the site owner has to pay the bills. But these little pop-ups are annoying as they cover what I am reading and they are always unintentionally triggered.

Now, here is the same page after invoking the Reader function in Safari 5:

Wow. What a difference! Now I can read. Easily. And if I drag my mouse to the bottom of the screen, it will expose icons to increase or decrease the text only, email the text only or print the text only. Love it! Perfect! What a nice touch. Thank you Apple!
