I was reading an article about how Apple's sales of Mac computers continues to soar - despite the recession. While other computer manufacturers (read: those that rely on Windows as their operating system) are slashing prices, Apple only this week "slashed" the price of their now "old" MacBook (white) by $100. Other than that, it is business as usual at Apple and this year looks to see an increase in sales of 30% over last years numbers. Indeed, at the new MacBook unveiling on Tuesday Apple noted that in the first three quarters of this year they have matched their total sales of Macs sold in all of last year. They still have a quarter to go with new MacBooks, MacBook Pros and a new Cinema Display to sell into the holiday season and new school year.
But, the most telling line in all this was the last line of the article: "Honestly, it’s not so much that Macs cost more, for many people, it’s more the case that PCs are crap at any price…" And that my friends sums it up!
Read the article. Then, if you use your computer a lot and would like to free yourself from the constant frustration that is Microsoft Windows, get a Mac. If you can't afford it, just remember you'll have to replace your Windows PC someday, so save the money. Don't buy another piece of frustration and outdated software. Hold your money until you can buy a Mac. You'll thank yourself later.
